Marcella currently lives and works in her studio in Kansas City where she was born and raised. Recently though, she has bought a plot of land in Tennessee, next to the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, www.elephants.com , where she will be building a second studio and retirement home on 40 acres of land in the future, WOW what fun! Marcella works as a Nurse Manager in a wonderful Hospital in Kansas City, MO! In 2008 she graduated the Master's program in Nursing at Webster University, to further her education in Nursing Administration. Marcella is a strong supporter of the innocent and does lots of volunteer work helping animals, come join her! Volunteerism is a very good thing to do as part of your 'soul' enrichment program! Pick your passionate 'cause' and go for it! It can be full of adventures! Start your kids early by collecting and taking a few canned goods to a food bank! Or take them to drop a bag of dog or cat food off at the nearest animal shelter, there you can teach them responsibility and charity at the same time! AS SEEN IN 'ART MAGAZINE of KANSAS CITY' :
'FAMILY' - approx 22 INCHES - $795 by Marcella Smith, is on walnut base, small pieces lining the openings of the robes are small cut out pieces of clay that was then mosaic onto the piece before glaze fire, there are over 500 individual pieces taking many hours of intense work by Marcella in her studio. The faces are exposed clay with her famous secret terra sig that has absorbed the atmosphere off of the robe during it's 2,100 degree fire, this fine art piece is made of stoneware.

Above is a 'one of a kind' bonded bronze piece called 'COVERED', a sculpture by Marcella Smith, the blood of Jesus is symbolized by 23 k gold leaf , this piece was purchased by a private collector in Kansas City, Mr. Kevin Walker. Now, a limited edition bronze version is available, with green marble and walnut base . The bronze limited edition issue will only be 12, after the 12th piece is made, the mold will be destroyed! GOLD RAIN COLLECTION -
The pieces you see here come from a new Southwestern style collection of wheel-thrown works from Christian artist Marcella Smith. They are high fired pottery using a base color of GOLD drippy glaze and many colors of glazes (up to 9 colors on some) on top of her secret recipe terra sig slip, 'raining down from Heaven'. The glazes as they reach temperatures close to 2000 degrees in the kiln 'fume' into the caramel colored terra sig causing an almost 3D appearance. The embellishments on this most currently developing collection of works, are of semi-precious stones, most polished natural Turquoise, Jade, or Opal. Current Gold Rain Collection pieces have an outdoor lacquer applied to them to prevent oxidation of the glaze. Not to be used for food container. After 21 years in nursing, at the age of 39, I returned to art as a 'happen chance', while taking humanity classes for an increased nursing degree. In those art classes, the old flame that God had once put in my heart as a child, exploded into a BON-FIRE! Now, I aim all of my goals and focus towards the artistic gifts God has given me. My primary passion in art is 3D. It allows myself, as the Artist, to touch and feel the work as it is being created. The sculptural piece can be pottery, clay work, egg carving, bronze, or stone, it all is very stimulating to my soul, and encourages me to create more thru this inner passion the Lord has given me. I also enjoy wall mural painting, and did Cow Parade & KC Teddy Bear public art, of course with some added sculptural elements! With all of my art work, I like to make it appear as if it is 'flowing' or 'moving', not stagnate or stiff. I respect my viewer's time and emotions, I do not want to 'bore' them with meaningless work. I worked as an apprentice in bronze with Master Sculptor, Professor Elden Tefft in Lawrence, Kansas, for a year, and still visit and work with him occasionally. I marvel at how marble or alabaster (my favorite) can be ground and carved into gentle and delicate shapes. The whole long process of the creation of bronze works also fascinates me, in how we can actually melt solid metal into a 'lava', then control it and make it into the detailed shapes and wonderful forms the artist chooses. When I paint in oil or acrylic medium, the colors are so intriguing to me, the blending and planning of color combinations and a wonderful composition. When I do achieve that 'well developed' art piece, that brings the 'ooohs' and aauhs', it is usually while focused for hours on end on that one piece of work in my studio, some people call it the 'zone', what ever it is called, I work well in there. Integrating spirituality into my work, is very important to me. If I can touch a heart or move a soul thru my work, I feel I am helping that fellow traveler down their spiritual journey to become closer to Jesus or Lord. I may use religious art, wildlife, or nature subjects expressing God's creation, or an illustration in being a good steward with earth's environment. Every piece I do comes to me from within my soul, when I become quite and focused on the Lord. A few years ago in those small art classes, the Lord Jesus had removed my blinders, reminding me of His original plan for my life. It is now a Joy filled life, as He returns me back to my first, childhood passion... ART! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!

It takes 8 pounds of feed for a cow to produce a one pound steakhmmm, 8 pounds, that's alot of food. I n 2005, the USA feeds 64% of the grain she produced to...food animals8 lbs food to 1 lb meat, do the calculations... If we took all the grain feed (corn, oats, soy, etc.) that we give to the animals that the meat/flesh eaters eat, and feed those grains instead to people, humans, not only would it put an end to starvation around the world, but there would be enough excess to store for the world's lean years. Are YOU part of the problem?
The consumption of animals supports world hunger, this is against God's instructions in the Bible. God created this earth to sustain us, but only in the way He designed:

Was the living creature, the one created by God, that was murdered for your desire for a fleshy hamburger tonight, alive when she was skinned? Or alive when her feet were cut off?
