MICHELLE'S

    ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

     "When I was a child, I declared that I was going to be an artist - this despite the fact that much of what I drew consisted of hot dog shaped animals with twenty legs.  As I grew older, I abandoned drawing and painting.  Discovering that I could write, I decided to become a novelist instead.  I took measures to do just that, but apparently the Lord had other ideas!

    I found art again the same time I found Jesus.  It began with a renewed desire to sketch, followed by the need to paint.  I had no instruction other that what I had received in high school, and I hadn't done anything more than doodle for years.  I checked out art books from the library and read magazines, but mostly I just painted and prayed.  Some people would say I am self-taught; I say I am Holy Spirit taught.

   My experience now includes painting figurines for a ceramic company and painting background and props for a local theatrical production.  I have spent the past four years perfecting my oil painting.  My favorite subject is Jesus because He is the love of my life."
